Delicious Mashed Potatoes

American Thanksgiving is coming up and so is Christmas, I figured I should post my basic Delicious Mashed Potato recipe. 
This recipe serves 8 or 4 or 6 potato loving people or teenagers  :)

I remember growing up and our holidays at home. My dad would sit at the kitchen table and would peel & cut up all the potatoes, sweet potatoes and turnip for my mom. He would then cut everything up into perfectly sized, equal pieces and get them all ready for the pot.
Me, I don't peel my potatoes, I served them with the skin on, partly because it's easier, partly because I think it's more nutritious

I like to use a hand masher but you could use a hand  mixer for a 
creamier texture. I like  mine kinda lumpy.

Delicious Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients

• 3 pounds  Yukon gold or red potatoes (9 medium),cut into 2-inch pieces
• 1/4 cup  butter
• 1 teaspoon  salt
• 1/2 teaspoon  ground black pepper
• 2/3 - 3/4 cup  milk, whipping cream, half-and-half, or light cream
•  Butter
• Pepper to taste

Directions

• Cook your potatoes in a pot of boiling salted water, ensure the water is covering the potatoes. Cook approximately 20-25 munites until fork tender.
• Drain potatoes and add room temperature milk or cream and about 1/4 cup of butter & pepper to taste.
• Mash together using a hand masher or hand mixer until you've reached desired consistency.

Variations
I have at times added to this recipe, 1 cup of sour cream and 1.2 brick of cream cheese - YUMMY!!
Add some fresh minced garlic to taste - super yummy!
