For as long as I can remember, my Mom has mad these as an appetizer for company and on special occasions for my Dad, he LOVES them! Bacon wrapped anything is delicious, isn't it? All you really need is bacon and whole water chestnuts 3 cans that size works perfectly with a package of bacon cut into 3's. Wrap the bacon around the water chestnut and insert toothpick. Easy huh? It's a good ideal to soak the toothpicks in water for about 15 minutes so that they don't burn while cooking. Me? I didn't this time hence the lovely black toothpicks. You can then sprinkle with a little brown sugar, or soya or bbq sauce or all three together, you can't go wrong here! As you may know, I'm a parchment fanatic so.... line your tray, dish or cookie sheet with parchment and bake at 350 for 30-40minutes. Oh yum yum yum yum.... Is a water chestnut really a nut? or is it a vegetable? I like to think it's a vegetable and this is a perfectly balanced snack - bacon +vegetable. Hmmmm.......lemme check. Ok, I googled it, a water chestnut is not a nut, it's an edible corm. What the heck is a corm? Hmmm..... lemme check. CORM A rounded underground storage organ present in plants such as crocuses, gladioli, and cyclamens, consisting of a swollen stem base covered with scale leaves Oh I get it, it's like a tulip bulb, see...ya learn something everyday! Now should I change the name of the recipe to bacon Wrapped Corms? Bon Appetit
