Apple Cinnamon French Toast
Oh man this is good, real good....... absolutely delicious & easy to make.
I like french toast, we rarely eat it though as I think of it more like a fancy pancake and nothing really special about it until now and wow..... just yummy wow!
Apple Cinnamon French Toast
I recently bought this scratch made Apple Cinnamon bread from a local farm/store/bakery called Apple Land Station, a great place, a hidden gem located right near London Ontario.
This place is famous for their Mile High Apple Pies and that my friends was the inspiration for my Apple Cinnamon French Toast.
Picture
Look at their apple pies........ crazy right?
3.5lbs of apples in every pie....wowsers!
Apple Cinnamon French Toast
The first thing I did was peel and slice 3 apples, tossed them in a fry pan with butter, brown sugar and cinnamon and let them cook away at medium heat and watch them do their magic.
Picture
I used 6 slices of the delicious apple cinnamon bread but you can use white bread, raisin bread, whatever tickles your fancy.
I mixed up my egg mixture, soaked the bread on each side for a minute or so and then the magic........ covered each side of the bread with Panko bread crumbs, MMmmmm crispy.

Then into a buttered fry pan......   ok...the drool is starting.
A quick stir of the apple mixture and it's lookin' good.

Once the apples reach desired tenderness, add a splash of vanilla and remove from heat.

Back to the bread....

I let the bread cook about 2-3 minutes on each side until nice golden brown.

Now a piece of toast a few apples and a dizzle of the ooey gooey sauce the apples and brown sugar created and BAM!!!!!!!!!  H-E-A-V-E-N!!

It's warm...sweet...crunchy...oeey...gooey...DELICIOUS!!

No need for maple syrup, the apple cinnamon mixture creates a heavenly sweet syrup for you.

Ingredients
Apple Mixture
  • 3 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon or more
French Toast
  • 6 slices bread
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ - 1 teaspoon cinnamon (I use 1 tsp, I love cinnamon
  • 1 cup Panko bread crumbs

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Add apple slices, brown sugar, and butter in a medium sauce pan. Cook over medium high heat until brown sugar has dissolved and butter has melted. Add cinnamon and reduce heat to simmer, cook approx 5 minutes longer until you've reached desired tenderness. Add vanilla, stir and remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  2. Place panko on a plate and spread it around.
  3. In a large bowl whisk together eggs, vanilla, milk, and cinnamon, whisk until smooth. Completely submerge one slice of bread in the mixture, ensuring both side are coated. Lift the bread out of the liquid and place on Pank plate and completely cover both side of bread with panko. Cook bread in a large buttered fry pan over medium heat 2 minutes until lightly browned, then flip and cook other side about 2 minutes. Repeat with remaining bread slices. Generously top toasts with apple cinnamon mixture and the sauce it created.
