We have a beautiful wall of windows in our great room and it's wonderful, it lets the sunshine in, let's me see all the wildlife and lets me watch the birds. I have feeders in the backyard beyond the deck and every once in a while I hear a thud.... a bird flies into the window - hate that! Today is the coldest day of the year and I heard 'that' sound. I went and looked out and there he was, a little bird, sitting on the snow, stunned. I picked him up & tucked him in my shirt to warm him up and calm him down. he's still alive, whew.... I brought him inside and let him warm up against my body for about 15 minutes or so until he started to get a little frisky and move around. I was thinking "all is good" took him outside to set him free.... He just sat there....now I was getting cold so I brought him back in, and back into my shirt, I think he just liked being all warm and cozy. After another attempt to let him free he sat in my hand, took a deep breath and off he flew.
Sometimes they survive the window, sometimes they don't... I have a love hate relationship with my windows.
