I'm so lucky to live in Canada and we have our provinces but this time of year in Southern Ontario, it's like a postcard everywhere I look.
Moist, delicious & easy to make, what more could you ask for?
Nooooo... I'm not sending you these ones :) Recipe HERE. I was in the produce section of the grocery store the other day when I spied this apple, the largest apple I have ever seen - ever! I usually buy Gala or Honey Crisp apples but this was a Mutsu or also known as a Crispin. I had to buy it, brought it home and stood it beside my usual choice, it was huge! So, it got me googling Mutsu apples, sweet, tart, good for eating and cooking ---hmmmm,
you learn something new everyday! This time of year especially when the Sumac tree is crimson and in bloom, I think of my dad. Road trips growing up were always an adventure and dad was always pointing out things in nature, a hawk, a deer, a ground hog or a sumac, then he would educate us with is knowledge, That's an 8 point buck because of the points on his antlers, that hawk can see a little mouse running under the grass from miles away and the sumac was where Native Indians used to gather. I love sumac because of my dad and his stories about how it was used for medicine, had healing powers and was used to dye thread. My dad is still alive and well and still pumping out the trivia that only life experience can provide. xox
This pretty piece is something completely different for me but I love the end result! More photos HERE.
A little sweet, a little heat, the perfect combination and I'm addicted!
