Allow me to introduce Rocky, he is the newest member of our family and I couldn't be happier. About a month ago we had to say good bye to our wonderful Big Boy it was an extremely sad time and we hadn't planned on getting another cat as we still had beautiful Hannah. Hannah is wonderful, vocal and the sweetest kitty ever but seemed lonely, she's a lovebug and was missing her brother (from another mother). I checked out websites from local rescue groups and made my way to the Human Society, I wish I could take them all - it boggles my mind how so many animals end up homeless. We wanted an older cat as our sweet Hannah is about 16 years old, we wanted a calm and loving cat, a perfect companion for Miss Hannah, was that even possible? I visited with a couple cats in the cat room, a special area to spend some one on one time with the kitties and they were all wonderful so how do you pick one? How do you choose one and leave so many behind - ugh! After 3 visits to the Human Society, my heart kept going to Rocky the chicken legged cat, Rocky's legs and tummy had been shaved due to extreme matting. There was an undeniable connection, an immediate trust as he rolled on his back to expose his bare belly for some rubbin'. I brought him home and he headed straight to the basement where he lived for 3 days refusing to come upstairs. I put a bowl of food and water out and tried each day to coax him to come upstairs-finally he did. My dear sweet Hannah hissed at him for a few days but he wasn't scared, he quickly made our home, his home.
Now he and Hannah sit nose to nose still a little unsure of each other but it's coming, a friendship is forming and it's wonderful to watch. Cats are like potato chips, you can't have just one :)
