My backyard Blue Jays

While sitting in my office at my desk I have a clear view of the backyard.
I love listening to the birds singing and chirping away happily but those sneaky Blue Jays make me smile constantly. Sometimes I'll hear a muted gurble gooble (hard to describe the sound) and I'll rise to my feet, hoping to catch a glimpse of a wild turkey - nope, it's a Blue Jay. I'll hear a hawk, nope it's a Jay. These guys are master of mimicry.

I have my morning routine, coffee or tea and I toss a handful off peanuts out on the patio for the chipmunks, squirrels and Jays. I watch the chipmunks stuff their cheeks and scurry off to their hole, the squirrels and the Jays either eat them or they scamper off, sometimes only a foot or two away and hide them under a leaf or between the blades of grass. Smart little chipmunks search out the ones that have been hidden. This world amazes me everyday. Now heres hoping I can catch a glimps of deer at my feed block of salt lick.....fingers crossed.
