I am lucky enough to have a Lavender farm within a 30 minute drive, I visit several times a year and it's like a brief visit to a land of make believe. The intoxicating fragrance of lavender carries me away, I feel relaxed, happy and at ease. The flowers smile, the birds sing and the bees would have something to say too but their fuzzy little legs are loaded with pollen, they are on a mission. It's perfect, it's heaven on earth here. Steed & Co Lavender is located in Southern Ontario, Canada just outside the historical village of Sparta. A beautiful area, rich in Canadian history. Allow me to give you a tour....... I wish you could enjoy the fragrance wafting over you as you pull up. The steed, postcard perfect grazing in the warm sunshine. The newest addition, bees... this must be euphoric for them. Honeymoon Suite - No Vacancy - makes me smile. Now on to the main attraction.... beautiful lavender. All your senses will go wild here, the english garden that you are encouraged to stroll through, the sweet scent of roses, peonies and lavender..... Step right into the middle of the garden, knee high in lavender and breathe, close your eyes and inhale the fragrances of another time. The serentiy, tranquility, the birds, the bees and the butterflies... the world stops here. Look around.... breathe.....feel the tension of life just disappear. Mosey on into the quaint gift shop and get ready to experience lavender like never before. More than just a calming scent, lavender has many health benefits. It soothes your senses, helps with insomnia, congestion and sinuses. Lavender is an unexpected culinary herb. Much like rosemary, this fragrant herb adds a distinctive flavour and dimension to lavender jams, jellies, marmalades, dressings, syrups and honey. There are always samples available to try. Ice Cream & Iced Tea - delicious! Lavender soaps....yup, they have it. Linen spray, my personal favourite....I mist my sheets every night. (I buy the big bottles on the right) Organic lavender dog shampoo, who doesn't want a perfectly pampered pooch? There are candles, sachets, balms & oils.... I don't travel without my solid Calming Balm. It's great for insomnia, headache, sinus pain and alot of times I just rub it on my wrists, temples or under my nose to be instantly teleported back to this farm. (I know, I'm a nerd) It's hard to walk out with out a purchase, spoil yourself or spoil a friend or both. Step out of the store to more flowers and roosters....yup, roosters. Meet Foghorn Leghorn in the white & Sheldon with the peppered feathers and Suzanne in lavender (the one with the raisins). Leggy aka Foghorn Leghorn strutting his stuff. It's hard to leave this slice of heaven...... hard to say good bye. I can't wait to come back...........ahhhhhh....love it! Hope you enjoyed the tour, visit when you can !!
