FoodSaver - something NEW!

Just over a month ago I was asked to give the FoodSaver Vacuum Sealing System a test drive. I have to tell you, I was excited and even more so once I started trying it out. You can read all about my experience HERE.  Now, on to something new from FoodSaver, expandable rolls!
Yup, e-x-p-a-n-d-a-b-l-e rolls. These rolls have been available in the USA for a while now but will be available in Canada in June - you'll love 'em!

This is perfect for someone like myself, who likes to save money. When I received these, the first thing that came to my mind was 'turkey', yeah I'm weird.  Turkeys are big and when they go on sale either right before or marked down right after Christmas.Thanksgiving & Easter they are a steal. I rarely buy a bargin turkey because I don't want a freezer burnt bird.

As you will read in my previous FoodSaver post, the 'rolls' are my favourite to use, they are customizable therefore to me, economical.

The weather is warmer outside so I wanted to test out this expandable roll of a couple summer foods. Ribs, delicious ribs....  the ribs were on sale so I stocked up on a deal. I decided to season, sauce and seal them!
Well, I really, seasoned, sauced, vacuumed & then sealed them  :)

I cut the roll to the size I needed and then sealed one end.

While the FoodSaver was sealing, I was looking at the bag....  hmmmm
"directions right on the bag", I thought, that's handy. I honestly read the directions but clearly my brain didn't compute.....
Picture
last line........ SEAL TWICE,  in capitals!
Slap my hand, I only sealed it once.

I cut my ribs into about a 6 rib serving size,
stacked them up and in the bag they went.

I folded in the side pleats and removed the wrinkles, just as the instructions said, sometimes I follow directions.

FoodSaver doing it's job, vacuuming out the air and sealing...

Look at those, perfectly vacuumed sealed.
Is it bad that they look so good
I want to cut the bag open and bbq them tonight?
Picture
I gave it a few vigorous shakes, single seal on each end,
 yeah...I'm a rebel!
Nothing leaked - perfection once again!
What's next, what about something unusually shaped?
Something that can't be stacked neatly?
Hello knackwurst!

I cut the roll to the size I needed, sealed the end to create a bag....

SINGLE SEALED again - will I ever learn???
Picture
Lovin' these expandable rolls, imagine.....  roasts, pile up those pies, casseroles and more! Great for camping & the cottage and if you hunt, fish (check out the YouTube video below) or buy your meat in bulk from the butcher these expandable rolls are for you!

Fathers Day is less than a month away,
this would make an awesome gift!

I have hummed and hawed about a foodsaver for awhile now but they really seem to make sense. I always by bulk and on sale and I end up spending the money I saved on ziplocks. Thanks for the info and I LOVE your whole blog, your funny :)

Hi Diana,
You'll love these rolls! I don't know when they'll be available in Calgary and my apologizes I don't know if they are available as bags. My suggestion is to go to their website www.foodsavercanada.com or find them on FaceBook or call them, they are super friendly & helpful 1-877-234-6363.
