Faux Chalk Sign

Chalk is everywhere these days and I'm really diggin' the look but for this is wanted something a littler more permanent.

I paint the thrift store tray with black paint in a satin finish and then used my trusty sharpie to write the word 'welcome' . I added a few magnets to the back as this was going on  a metal door and Taaaa Daaaaa...done!
It's nice because there is a screen door in front of this door and the slim profile of this tray works perfectly when the metal door is closed.
Now, you could attach ribbon or whatever to it, let your imagination go wild

I wanted the black paint to look a little thick so that it had the look of an old chalk board. The Sharpie looks like chalk so it worked out fantastic!
Now I'm on the hunt for some more metal trays...woohoooo!
