It all started with a piece of plywood and a colouring book page.... I'm a volunteer with the Dorchester Fair in the quaint little village of Dorchester Ontario. This year was our 160th fair and we wanted to create a couple new things, a couple fun things to add to the event. I said I would do it........ what was I thinking? Actually, after alot of trial and error i finished it and was quite happy with the results, now I want to make another one for next year! It all started with a 4'x8' sheet of plywood, I drew on the picture from the colouring book inspiration and started to paint with acrylic paints NOOOOooooooo........ didn't work, so I decided to prime it, why I didn't do that in the first place is beyond me, I should have known better. So I primed, then painted, then a 2nd coat, then shading and then I outlined everything with a giant Sharpie marker. I have to say that at this point I was really enjoying how this project was turning out. We cut out the face holes and oOnce it was all dry and I was satisfied with the results, I gave it 2 coats of an outdoor poly-acrylic finish and TA DA!!! It's funny how all ages just love to pose for pictures, families, couples and kids - it was wonderful to see!
