It's December !

 I love December, the lights, the love, family, friends & the tradition. As the chill fills the air in December, my insides warm right up, I get excited, sappy & sentimental, I love seeing rosy cheeks & twinkling eyes.

   I'm the person who has all their Christmas shopping done by December 1st, I crank the Christmas carols while I wrap the gifts & decorate the house. I enjoy having everything done so that I can savour the season, enjoy it & breath in all it has to offer.

My December.....

• Shop all year long, when I see something I know someone will LOVE, I pick it up & pack it away until November.
• Love having the house smell Christmasy, cinnamon or balsam, warm & cozy.
• I prefer wrapping paper over gift bags, my Auntie Danna used to wrap our gifts so beautifully, the sight of beautifully wrapped gifts are a gift themself, I just get all giddy looking at them.
• I have an artificial tree but I still love going to tree farms for a wagon ride, some hot chocolate & the fragrance of fresh cut trees.
• Visit a garden centre, take in the colour of Christmas, the decorations, poinsettia, Christmas Cactus, holly, mistletoe & paperwhites.
• Bake, I remember as a young girl going to my Auntie Sheila's house for the weekend, we would make shortbread, icebox cookies & fruit cake, it felt wonderful & smelled even better. To this day I still do Christmas baking & I am lucky enough to be able to share the fun with my nieces, we spend a day giggling, telling stories, singing songs & licking choclate filled spoons. 
• Christmas cards, I love sending cards, I love receiving cards I personalize each & every one of them, I smile ear to ear everytime I see one in the mailbox.
• Spend time with loved ones, spend quiet times, happy times, laughing times & memory making times. Turn off the phones, laptops & electronics, play cards or a board games in your jammies, it's not all Christmas gifts we remember instead, it's the joy & happiness we feel.
• Charity, I have always donated some toys for children, gifts for tweens & most importantly food for the hungry. Some years I'm fortunate to give generously, but there have been struggles some years yet I still donate what I can, there is always someone less fortunate then myself.

Most importantly, enjoy the season
 & savour all it has to offer.
