I feed my backyard feathered friends and in return, they entertain me for hours. I'm in constant awe of their beauty, their antics and the variety of birds that show up. This is a Red Breasted Woodpecker, although he doesnt have a red breast. He eats from the feeder doesn't eat the suet like my other woodpeckers do, he's a beaut! Click on any of the pictures to enlarge them. This is a wild turkey, and he's at my front door. They fascinate me so much - they look prehistoric to me for some reason. I believe this is a young male but I'm not sure I'm just guessing by the chest feather and claw thingys on his feet. Female Cardinal, her male companion is the red one. My little Woodpecker. When he's not at the suet, he's hammering away at the side of my shed and I've got holes to prove it! I have a heated birdbath, it provides them with water throughout the cold winter months. Even in the cold they love to bath & play. In the backyard. The Blue Jays always crack me up, they're noisy, they mimic the other birds and they grab a peanut, hide it a couple feet away and then the squirrels and chipmunks get it. Funny guys.... Are you a backyard birder?
Do you have photos of your birds? I would love to see them and even post some.
