About the month of November I just started doing Random Acts of Kindness. I would buy a stranger coffee, help someone with their groceries, give a senior a ride home etc. Just little things to make someone smile, little unexpected things, things to get people talking and thinking.
I've been posting these around town and in the city. I've taped them in bus shelters, pinned them to arena bulletin boards, hung them in grocery stores and more. Some people pass them by without even noticing and others stop, read, smile, look around and take one. People will call their friends over and talk about the poster to complete strangers, it makes them smile and it's kind of a selfish, because it makes me smile more! So I wrote about cocooning and then thought about it, I've got to get out of this funk and turn this winter frown upside down. What better way to do that than visit a garden centre.
Walking through the humid greenhouses, inhaling the sweet smell of hyacinth. Paperwhites and tulips poking through the warm potted soil along side violets and mums. I would honestly pay to hang a hammock and spend the day in there. |
